  1. I read your story on the anxiety guru site. It was truly inspiring. My question is how does one go about finding a tough love brief strategic therapist who can help them with gad/panic. There are so many therapists and modalities out there that it almost seems like finding a needle in a haystack. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Hi Tom,

Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for your comment.

I found my own therapist (after a failed attempt at talk therapy) because the cousin I mentioned briefly in my story recommended a book to me about Brief Strategic Therapy for anxiety and depression. The author of the book, an Italian psychotherapist (Giorgio Nardone) who’s pioneered this kind of treatment for anxiety sufferers, was also the co-founder of the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto. Since I knew I liked the theory behind the treatment, and since I knew my cousin had had success with this methodology where she lived (in Italy), I looked into therapists in Barcelona who were also affiliated with this institute.

I dug up the link to the institute for you: They have a series of contact details that might be helpful. The Institute itself offers services, and while it’s in the San Francisco Bay Area, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

    I hope this helps!!
